1. God has a Purpose for Mankind

     -God created mankind to Honor, Serve, and to Fellowship with Him.

         HONOR. Revelation 4:11         SERVE.  1 Corinthians 10:31         FELLOWSHIP. Psalm 16:11

     -So, what went wrong?

2. Mankind Sinned

     -Mankind chose to sin against God rather than serve Him.

     -We sin by doing what God has commanded us not to do or by not doing what God has told us to do.

         ALL HAVE SINNED. Romans 3:23         SIN IS BREAKING GOD'S LAW. 1 John 3:4

3 Sin's Penalty is Death

     -When mankind chose to disobey God, the result was death.  The basic meaning of death is separation.

     -The Bible teaches that there are three types of death, or separation, that result from sin.

         SPIRITUAL DEATH separates a person from the like of God.  Ephesians 2:1

         PHYSICAL DEATH separates a person's soul from their body.  Hebrews 9:27

         ETERNAL DEATH separates a person, both soul and body, from God forever in Hell.  Revelation 20:15

4 How then can we ever have eternal life?

     -What seems right to man will only lead to death. Proverbs 14:12

     -We are not righteous but by God's mercy He saved us.  Titus 3:5

     -As a gift of God. We are not saved by works but thought grace by faith.  Ephesians 2:8-9

5 Christ became our sinless substitute

     -Jesus Christ was sent by the Father to pay the penalty for our sins by dying on the cross in our place.

         Romans 5:8        1 Peter 3:18

6  We must receive Jesus Christ by believing, repenting, and trusting in only him as our Lord and Savior

        BELIEVE. John 14:6            REPENT. Acts 3:19          TRUST. Romans 10:13

7 God then promises us eternal life.

     -Jesus Christ said, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth My word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but has passed from death unto life."    John 5:24
